the man who came up with the lipid hypothesis, saying saturated fats and cholesterol is bad for us was funded by the corn products company, makers of Mazola margarine and corn oil.

research has shown that the traditional diets had 10 times the amount of vitamin A than the western diet has now.. research also shows that the ratio of betacarotene to vitamin A is 6:1 that means u need to eat an awful lot of veges to obtain the minimal requirement of vitamin A. i would rather take cod liver oil and eat butter and u would barely notice it in ur diet.

Vitamin A is a drop in the bucket of the nutrients needed by the human body to maintain true health. Regardless, the mcg of vitamin A per 100g of the following is: carrots 8000, sweet potatoes 4000, spinach 3500, kale 3200, apricots 1200, mango 1400, paprika (360mcg/1g) and chili powder (210mcg/1g). It is also abundantly in found in beets, broccoli, winter squash, peas, sweet red peppers, oatmeal, tomato juice, peaches, apples, lemons, avocado, seeds, and nuts.

If you look at the vitamin A intake quantities considered unhealthy for us, you will see that the animal protein rich Standard American Diet (SAD) puts us at dangerous levels.
There’s lots of misinformation, especially provided to us by the industries promoting animal products. In the US it is not illegal to be paid by both an industry and the US gov to make recommendations on behalf of that industry. The national school milk program is an example of just such an recommendation.

@kr16794 I agree with you that trans fats, processed wheat, sugar etc. are much worse than meat. But it’s really pointless to compare them in the first place.

@kr16794 Protein eaters? Oh I eat plenty of protein. Leafy greens is a fantastic source of amino acids.
In fact, National Geographic did a study on the four healthiest societies in the world and they found that they all got their proteins and fats almost exclusively from plant sources.
I will however admit that due to the fact that I live in scandinavia I don’t get enough vitamin D during the winter on a vegan diet. I am currently experimenting on getting it from mushrooms though.

im not trying to argue anything. I just don’t understand how meat has been given such a bad reputation, how it can be compared to sugar and trans fat. its a natural whole food. i hear the book “the vegetarian myth” by Lierre Keith is a good one… hundreds of years ago everybody ate meat and they never had cancer etc. Its a very controversial topic but if you feel healthy being a vegan then thats fine. not everyone are protein eaters.

I usually get between 2000%-6000% of the daily recommended intake of vitamin A. I’m pretty sure I’m getting enough.

And don’t you think it’s kinda pointless to try to argue on a theoretical level that you can’t eat a healthy vegan diet when there’s so people doing it already?

“The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.”

I have actually compared the nutrient content between the two. meat is high vitamin A. vitamin A is needed to absorb all other nutrients. You can eat all the organic vegetables you like but if you aren’t getting enough vitamin A then its not worth it because you aren’t getting all the nutrients you need. And no you can’t get the right amount of vitamin A from vegetables. It doesn’t get converted the same.

@yogashot It depends on what you are juicing. High sugar produce = high calorie juice.
Green juices will certainly not add a lot of calories, but they will add a ton of nutrients.

@kr16794 Have you ever compared the nutrient content between say spinach and beef? It sure doesn’t seem like it.
A proper vegan diet with lots of leafy greens is certainly not lacking minerals.
Meat is second had building material. Which is ok if you are lacking good plant foods.

kr16794

how can meat be comparable to sugary and trans fatty foods?? meat is extremely good for you. an all vegan diet is lacking in other minerals you can get from meat. balanced diets are essential.

The earth quake was still perfect! Do you still view death as something that is possible? Life doesn’t die, it just changes form! I think the people that left earth during that earthquake are very fortunate! We are still stuck hear with all our erroneous and ignorant belief systems! I can’t wait to be free! Reality is different for everyone! I never said smile and be happy, I just said to accept what is! Big difference…

No offense mi amour, but its a little soon to discuss the upsides of the horrific earthquake in Haiti that killed upwards of 100,000 people, many in gruesome deaths in caved in buildings buried alive and help never arriving. Sorry, that new age shit about how everything’s so great, even tragedy, I think is BS. Just smile and be happy regardless of reality. Better buildings could have protected some people, that is reality and not design by god. No offense, you know I luv you anyway!

I couldn’t watch it all my computer isn’t working, but so true, we see so little of reality. Healthy diet helps. We have so much creativity that we do not use. On the other hand, we don’t have to “work so hard” , God is there, just realize His love, and what he has done for us and loves us as we are. That helps us realize peace, and change.

screw it all and pass some green juice, lol, your awesome dan.

How can I lose weight is what I asked myself, now I know that is the wrong question. How can I live optimally? regardless of your current weight, living optimally will get the weight and everything else where it should be
