ADVERTISEMENTS
Welcome back!
On October 3 2007, Direct-MS (www.direct-ms.org ), sponsored a public presentation by Dr. Loren Cordain of Colorado State University on the topic of “The Paleo Diet and Multiple Sclerosis” (en français: “Le régime Paléolithique et la Sclérose en plaques”). Dr Cordain is a leading researcher in the field of the roles that various nutritional factors play in chronic diseases such as MS. A webcast of Dr Cordain’s presentation is on the website www.direct-ms.org/presentations.html …

That study is of 83 people(no omnis)from 1982 who are on the limited “Nat Hygene diet”, which also happens to be vegan. While it’s true that vegs are susceptible to low b12 levels, this doesn’t mean they all have b12 dep,and still MOST B12 DEP CASES OCCUR IN OMNIS,USDA/Tufts studies showed this, animal food intake was not a factor,it’s about absorption.(K Tucker/J Mayer ‘00)It’s a non-issue for me anyway, I have no prob with supplementing if need be.The SAD diet needs @ 10 times the supplements.

Serum vitamin B12 and blood cell values in vegetarians
Dong A, Scott SC
Among subjects who did not supplement their diets with vitamin B12 or multiple vitamin tablets, 92% of the vegans, 64% of the lactovegetarians, 47% of the lacto-ovovegetarians and 20% of the semi-vegetarians had vitamin B12 levels less than 200 pg/ml (normal = 200-900 pg/ml).

Wow, guess those test results about my b12 levels being well above average were just liberal veggie propaganda. PLUS those SAME veggie scammers keep somehow avoiding B12 deprivation, and have found a way to inflict it on the vast majority of meat and dairy eaters! It’s crazy how these veggie people were somehow able to manipulate all the statistical data to show that the vast majority of B12 deficiency cases occur in people who eat a
Standard American Diet. THIS RUNS DEEP.

The Vegetarian Society:
Vitamin B12 is exclusively synthesise by bacteria and is found primarily in meat, eggs and dairy products. There has been considerable research into proposed plant sources of vitamin B12. Fermented soya products, seaweeds, and algae such as spirulina have all been suggested as containing significant B12. However, the present consensus is that any B12 present in plant foods is likely to be unavailable to humans and so these foods should not be relied upon as safe sources.
April 3, 2009
Organic unwashed vegetables, chlorella, spirulina, and a variety of fermented products (miso, tempeh, kim chi) are all plant sources of b12. It is in untreated water and on all unwashed plants. AGAIN, a sterile modern diet reduces these levels heavily, which is why EVEN MEAT AND DAIRY is fortified with b12. Why do meat eaters still make up the majority of b12 deprivation cases? B12 is even maintained at certain levels in our own guts, it’s just a matter of absorption and digestive efficiency.

search youtube: Q & A with T. Colin Campbell at 4:11 he says he takes B12 supplements and even says it may be advisable for someone on a plant based diet. Vitamin B-12 is naturally found in meat (especially liver and shellfish), milk and eggs. I could careless weather animals obtain it directly or indirectly from bacteria either way humans need to eat meat to get it. Plants do not supply B-12 to humans. The only reliable “vegan” sources of B-12 are foods fortified with B-12 and B-12 supplements.
April 3, 2009
LOL, he “admits” he occasionally takes b12, not for the reasons you’ve stated. B12 is from BACTERIA, not “animal products”. Campbell refers to B12 as a “separation from nature” supplement, as most people now eat a very sterile diet. Which is why the majority of your foods are STILL fortified with b12, even your dairy. Your white flour crap, meats, cheeses, all that. LOL, and B12 deprivation cases STILL occur predominantly in people eating “omnivore” diets. Come on.
April 3, 2009
Even T. Colin Campbell admits to taking a B12 supplement because you can only get B12 from animal products.

Glad you are all completely satisfied with the mediocre success you achieve by simply reducing the amount of processed food in your diet. NOW imagine if you actually ate the CORRECT non-processed foods….then you would actually get unmistakably GOOD results. Can’t have that, can we? Or you confused morons could just spam mark and thumbs down anything you don’t like to hear, like PLANT BASED DIETS ARE VASTLY SUPERIOR BASED ON ALL CREDIBLE MODERN RESEARCH. Hey, it’s your lives. Whatever.

i do believe this is the most natural diet. i have had major health benefits from it. i used to have undiagnosed rheumatic illness, and now it’s almost gone after eating paleo.
i recommend it to everyone, even though i suggest slowly easing in to the diet, as for some people, after years of bread & carbs, it’ll be a shock for the system. no worries, it stabilizes quickly.

I have MS. This info has turned my progressive version of the disease around. After a year of being on the best best diet, I have eliminated many of my symptoms. Check out Ashton Embry’s website and play around with the ideas. Any time I put dairy back in my diet, I go seriously downhill. Thanks Dr. Embry and Dr. Cordain!

Well it’s not a matter of accusation, it’s just that it’s well documented that all of the people who publicly oppose him have direct ties to meat, dairy, and trade conglomerates. It’s very cut and dry, and it’s no surprise what their motivation is. Why wouldn’t they defend their “product”? He may be a civilian member of PETA but he doesn’t do any promotion for them, write for them…ANYTHING for them. They deal with ETHICS, he deals with SCIENCE. He has NO mention of ethics in his book.
April 3, 2009
I don’t even watch TV, and I am aware that Mr Campbell is accusing those who disagree with him of being in the pockets of the beef industry. And he is a member of PETA.
April 3, 2009
Congratulations on buying the propaganda from the beef and dairy industries. Campbell is not in PETA’s pocket at all, and he is responsible for some of the the most comprehensive research on human nutrition. I am VERY familiar with everything he has done, and the cattle industry has tried to smear his every step. You have to stop believing TV commercials know whats best for your nutritional needs.
April 3, 2009
T Colin Campbell is working for PETA and is spreading fear of animal protein to promote the anti-meat agenda. You have to read between the lines in his book.
April 3, 2009
I HIGHLY suggest you look up research by T. Colin Campbell before embarking on the paleo-diet. If you want to protect what Myelin you have left, a plant based diet has shown time and time again to be the most effective and healthful overall.

Thank you so much for posting this lecture series. As a person with MS, it has influenced me greatly. A close friend of mine has gout, and he is also modifying his diet further as a result of viewing. We are not sure we can be “strict” Paleo Diet adherents, but we are going to try. I understand it — it helped that I’d taken some molecular bio in college, though! Thx again, and I am looking up more from Dr. Cordain.

This is bull-shit. I am laughing. “…and 10 million years ago…” Yeah, he really knows things. Heh.

No universal diet existed…. That is why, maybe
we should be flexible, and it’s a part of live,-
to change, and maybe also we need our new food’s
. We did new think’s, explode new spaces, maybe our brains need new food??? We really dont have to run for our food, if we want it to get back to old diet, In my opinion, we should get there totaly. No cars, no shops, hunting etc. We eat other things now, cause times are different.

This is amazing info. I watched it several months ago. Not sure if I responded then, because I was new to YouTube. I’ve sent it on to many people. Thank you so much for sharing this. Ginny

After two months on the Paleo Diet, I was walking shakily. After one year, I am walking very well with a cane!
April 3, 2009
sorry Cordain!

Brilliant. I run Nutrition and Weight Loss seminars in Brighton England, and use Leo Cordens research as the basis of my work. He is the don!!!!
